A Message From Your Local Christian Bookshop

Matthew Maunder

Thank You
For supporting your local Christian Bookshop, which is one of over 500 spread throughout the UK, Channel Islands and Isle of Man. In these difficult times, the support of local Churches and individual Christians is vital for us to continue the ministry we are called to. Behind each bookshop there are dozens of publishers and suppliers, and thousands of authors and artists producing encouraging, inspiring and challenging pieces to equip the wider Church.

Maybe you aren’t aware of the work Christian Bookshops do around the country to spread the Good News, help those in need find comfort, and equip teachers, pastors, youth workers, missionaries and more to go out and do the work they are called to. We are more than bookshops. We are ministries.

For the Future
The past years have been difficult for everyone involved in the Christian Book trade. Online giants have diminished sales, shrinking churches lead to less demand, and the same economic conditions that affect all industries affect us too.

But all of us in the trade are united behind one idea – that the work we are doing is vital to the work of the Church in the UK and beyond. Whether our shops have been open one month or fifty years, each and every one of us believes this is something God has called us to do, and we believe it must continue.

That’s why today and every day we ask you to pray with us for this mission, the work still to be done, and the challenges ahead. Please ask in your local shop to find out what you can pray for them in particular.

Please pray for inspired authors, wise publishers and enthusiastic booksellers, that as we face the difficulties ahead God will guide us and we are faithful to Him.

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”
Romans 12:12 (NIV) Thank You
